Lao is a French film photographer exploring many subjects (from street scenes to nature) always chasing softness, silence, and light, trying to catch glimpses of poetry through her lenses. Through the grain of analog photography, she seeks to capture a melancholic feeling where time stretches and lingers.

Between Paris and Normandy, she blends the quiet beauty of reality with dreams. Her analog images do not simply document scenes : they evoke silences and memories once thought lost. Each frame is a pause, a breath, an invitation to see what the hurried eye overlooks.

After studying art history at the Sorbonne and earning a Master’s degree focused on 19th-century photography, she explores the world’s beauty with a particular sensitivity to its subtle shades. Film becomes a tool to slow down, to turn urban chaos or the softness of the countryside into cinematic tableaux. Melancholy, in her work, is not sadness : it is a deep peace, a warming nostalgia. Her exploration of time passing reveals itself as much in floral compositions as in the natural and urban landscapes she captures with poetic nuances.
